Canadian Union of Postal Workers, Child Care Fund backs the mission of B2C2

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Child Care Fund provided support to B2C2 for its important mission to support the public and non-profit child care sector in Ontario with the expertise and tools they will need to expand and grow.

Early learning and child care has been part of CUPW’s involvement in women’s issues since women began working in the post office in the 1980s.  It was at our national convention in 1983 that we adopted two child-care policies into our National Constitution:

  *   Opposition to cutbacks and support for the concept of 24-hour-a-day universal early learning and child care as a responsibility of government;
  *   Opposition to all for-profit child care centres

The CUPW adopted these policies because we know that public and non-profit delivery of early learning and child care is the best way to meet the needs of young children and their families. We know the supports and services B2C2 want to provide will be critical for expanding quality, affordable services in non-profit and public early learning and child care sector.
