Beautiful Spaces,
Enriching Places

Building Blocks for Child Care can help non-profit and public organizations to achieve their goals, serve the community and build a better future. We can help, from beginning to end, or with just the services you need, to create and support child care and early years programs in your community.

Designing and building beautiful, functional spaces — indoor and out — that nurture the creativity, joy and healthy development of young children is vitally important. So too, is the creation of space that supports staff in their work and promotes the principles of equity, inclusion and cultural relevancy.

Design and construction processes – whether through renovations, retrofits or new-builds – can be both exciting and frustrating. Expect the unexpected, juggle the choices, reflect many voices – and of course manage the budget. The day-to-day project management and effective delivery of the project depends on good communications, good relationships and solid direction.

Our team can help provide guidance and oversight, in a variety of roles, in the design and construction of your project. The level of involvement will depend on the needs of your organization, the location and size of your project, the contractor and property owner.

Building Blocks for Child Care wants to help your organization open the doors to new centres — and widen the future for children and families.

  • Developing new, or expanding existing, early learning and care centres requires in-depth understanding of regulations and licensing requirements, zoning and building permissions, fire safety plans, public health requirements, and the design and construction process to ensure safe, functional, and optimal environments for children and staff.
  • Projects often require approvals from several levels of government (e.g. provincial, municipal, school board). Whether it is getting a permit from a municipal department or agreement from the system manager (CMSM/DSSABs), sign-off from the Ministry of Education, or a lease from a school board, getting to the finish line can seem like a marathon and B2C2 will be the agency to cut through this.
  • B2C2 will provide this needed assistance – whether to a community group, a child care board of directors, or a centre director or supervisor – to navigate through the planning and pre-development processes that can make or break a project.
  • and getting the Agency to submit Plans and Class D estimate suitable for funding submission.
