Description

The Social Media Specialist will support other communications and program staff in efforts to promote the mission and objectives of B2C2. 

The social media assistant will implement tasks to meet campaign objectives, track social media metrics, analyze trends and engage and respond to audiences on social media platforms. 

The position also involves writing blog posts and newsletter blurbs as required.

This is a position scheduled for 35 hours per week for eight (8) weeks at a wage rate of $19.00 per hour.  The successful applicant will work primarily from home.

Working Relationship(s)

The Social Media Specialist will work under the supervision of a B2C2 Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to conceptualize social media campaigns
  • Help to design and implement social media campaigns
  • Write blog posts/articles for our newsletter
  • Lay out the newsletter in MailChimp
  • Track social media statistics and analytics
  • Engage and coordinate with stakeholders on social media
  • Respond to audiences in comments and DMsCreate graphics/videos/animations
  • Perform marketing research and analysis as directed 
  • Ensure branding guidelines are followed consistently throughout all online and offline content
  • Updating website with new content as necessary

Minimum and Essential Requirements

  • a basic understanding of design principles, colour theory, and typography 
  • be an excellent communicator with flawless English language skills
  • be an independent worker with the ability to organize your own working hours to meet deadlines
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Effective interpersonal and team skills   
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Other Requirements

  • Some post-secondary education
  • Communications/media/graphic design degree/diploma or equivalent experience
  • Experience with using Google Workspace and the main Google apps (Documents/Sheets/Slides/Calendar/Gmail)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is essential – primarily Photoshop, but experience with Premiere and Indesign is an advantage
  • Experience with Canva
  • Experience using WordPress to update website content

Bonus Points

  • Experience using Toggl and Slack
  • Experience with Elementor or other WordPress frameworks
  • Knowledge of Early Learning and Child Care issues  
  • HTML/CSS/JS/PHP coding experience
  • French language proficiency

Start date

Position 1 starts on May 6, 2024, and Position 2 starts on July 1, 2024 (or as close to these dates as possible).
