What we can do for you...

Planning

Not quite ready to put shovels in the ground? We can help your organization past “just thinking about it” to starting your expansion project.

We can help you with:

  • getting your board of directors on-side
    readying your organization for the expansion process
  • figuring out what kind of program you’ll have, how many spaces you need, and how you can achieve your vision.
  • working on a budget
    helping you to get loans, grants, etc.
  • working with government (provincial and municipal)
  • responding to Requests for Proposals; Expressions of Interest, etc.

Pre-construction

There are a lot of steps in an expansion project before the bulldozers arrive on your doorstep. We can help you navigate through the maze of pre-construction stage.

We can help you with: 

  • working with you to find the perfect location to achieve your vision
  • ensuring that the location you choose is suitable for childcare 
  • guiding you through the process of zoning approvals
  • coordinating the various assessments and surveys that may be necessary (environmental, geotechnical, energy modelling, accessibility, etc.)
  • developing a preliminary design for the centre and having architectural drawings created
  • Helping to develop rough estimates of costs at the beginning of the project
  • Commissioning the initial cost estimates (Class D) 
  • Finding and securing the right Architect for your project
  • Acting as your point person and representative in organizing  all the various experts needed

Construction

The project has started and the fun has begun, but so have all of the hiccups that any project faces. We’re here to make sure everything goes smoothly so you can concentrate on providing quality child care while the project is built. 

We can help you with:

  • Hiring a qualified Project Manager
  • Working with your builder
  • Liaising with the architect
  • Briefing  your board of directors

 

  • Monitoring daily progress
  • Ensuring construction milestones and budget on target
  • Organizing planning meetings and project logistics

Opening

The building is built, the bulldozers are gone, but the project isn’t over yet. We can get you from an empty new project to a functioning child care centre. 

We can help you with: 

 

  • Arranging and managing all necessary inspections and licensing processes
  • Supporting recruitment of RECEs
  • Purchasing of furniture, equipment and materials

Workshops & Studies

We are available to work with you to provide custom workshops for your staff, your board, or other groups to teach and inform about the process surrounding child care expansion.
